“5G Messages” commercialization to take place in June 2020

Earlier today, the three major carriers in China, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom, held an online press conference to jointly release the “5G Messages” feature. According to  reports , the  5G  messaging service an upgrade of the native basic Short Message Service (SMS). For individual users, “5G Messages” will break the length limit of each message in traditional SMS. It also supports multiple media formats, including text, pictures, audio, video, emoticons, and contacts. Support online messages and offline messages, and can provide users with message status reports and history management In addition, “5G Messages” brings a brand-new human-computer interaction mode. In this window, users can complete a one-stop service experience such as service search, discovery, interaction, and payments. Representatives from 11 companies including Huawei, Samsung, and Xiaomi were part of the online event. Other companies include Vivo, OPPO, ZTE, Samsung, Lenovo, and Meizu.

Coronavirus: Cyprus will have to raise its own funds to cover economic measures

Cyprus would have to rely on itself for raising funds for its economic measures as the Eurogroup meeting that concluded on Thursday night decided to put off any decision on the issuing of Eurobonds, now also known as corona bonds. As was expected, northern European countries opposed the idea of pooling EU debt, which was the demand of Italy and Spain, but the Eurogroup approved a €540bn package of measures aimed at protecting the bloc’s economy, which is expected to contract by as much as 10 per cent because of the coronavirus. Speaking on Friday morning on state broadcaster CyBC, Finance Minister Constantinos Petrides said that while the measures were helpful, the decision meant that “each country must go its own way,” as the funds made available were not enough to finance the measures for protecting jobs and keeping businesses afloat. Desperate for medical supplies, US asks to buy from Turkey

list of medical supplies they would like to purchase from Turkey, seeking Ankara’s help in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic that has inflicted a major blow to the country’s already fragile health care system and depleted the Strategic National Stockpile. The list submitted to the Turkish Embassy in Washington includes body bags, soap, masks, beds, gloves, respirators, goggles, mobile X-ray units, alcohol-based hand disinfectants, antiviral vaccines, morphine, antibiotics, medical kits, oxygen masks, shoe covers, medical tubes, laryngoscope sets, surgical masks, disposable medical gowns, mobile sphygmometers, sample carry cases and chloride, according to a report by the Hürriyet daily, citing Foreign Ministry and Industry and Technology Ministry records.
