OPINION: Will Nigeria Ever Get Young President Like France?

France recently made a history by electing 39-year-old Emmanuel Macron as its president. Since Macron became the president, many people, especially Nigerians are also calling for young and vibrant person to become the next president of Nigeria.
In a Facebook user, Omololu Omotosho, writes on the prospect of Nigeria having young president in the next general election.
Nigerian youth need to stand up and be counted. Power is never given but earned. Spending valuable time insulting politicians will not change Nigeria but to be strategically involved in civic duties will.
One of the main problems of Nigeria apart from the much publicized issue of “corruption,” is that we lack leaders that are adequately prepared for leadership positions in all levels of government.
Youth are fortunate enough to be political appointees should use the unique opportunity and experience they gained in government to mentor other youths genuinely interested in service.
Political office holders should set up think tanks after their tenure of service intended to promote education about leadership, governance, and research.
If this is not done, maybe we should join major political parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or All Progressives Congress (APC). Or is the best option that Omololu Omotosho forms his own political party, gets it registered, and raises money from Nigerian youths at home and the Diaspora?
Nigeria is not France. But if President Emmanuel Macron can form his political party and win, maybe we can also do this in Nigeria.
Do You Think Nigerians Will Vote For A Young Man In 2019 If He Contests?

Cyprus is close to reaching its target of containing the coronavirus but is not yet there, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Thursday. In a statement on Twitter, Ioannou said: “Day by day we are reaching our goal of containing the (coronavirus) cases. However, we have not yet reached the end.” The Republic has so far recorded 790 cases but results in recent days seem to show that strict restrictions placed on the population appear to be working as the daily tally of new cases dropped. The government was now focusing on a strategy of restarting the economy, which has been effectively shut down for the past two months. Any move towards that direction would depend on the epidemiological data of the coming days. At 11:30am Thursday, President Nicos Anstasiades is expected to brief party leaders on the developments regarding the pandemic and the economic fallout following an earlier meeting of the cabinet. The discussion will focus on then plan to relax restrictions a...
